Quitman Independent School District

Quitman Independent School District is a public school district based in Quitman, Texas (USA). The district's mascot is the Bulldog.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]

Success

One Act Play

The Quitman High School One Act Play has appeared at the UIL State Competition three times: 1983, 2010 and 2011. In 2010, Quitman won the Zone, District, Area and Regional Championships with their production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. At the State Meet held at the University of Texas at Austin, two students medalled in the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast. After winning the Zone, District, Area and Regional Championships again in 2011, Quitman won First Runner-Up at the State Meet with their production of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman, announcing them as the second best play in Texas in AA. Two students medalled in the All-Star Cast at state. In 2008, the UIL One Act Play received state alternate for their production of Golden Boy. The One Act Play has won the District Championship for nine consecutive years.

Golf

The varsity golf team has appeared at the State Championship for three consecutive years: 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2010, Quitman won the 2A State Championship of Texas, producing the first ever athletic team championship in school history. In 2009, the golf team placed fourth at the State Championship. In 2011, the golf team finished in sixth place.

Volleyball

The Quitman Lady Bulldog volleyball team has appeared at the state tournament seven times and has appeared at the state championship twice. The volleyball team went to state three consecutive years: 2003, 2004, 2005. Between 2001 and present, the team has lost two district games, and has won the district championship nine consecutive years.
